A Vent Free Fireplace Adds Ambiance

Vent Free Fireplace - There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of a roaring fire with a glass of wine, a good book and a warm blanket. Although it used to be that if you lived in an apartment without a fireplace you were unable to enjoy the soothing nature of a fire. The same was true for those who owned homes without a fireplace – as it was often cost prohibitive or functionally impossible to add one. However, vent free fireplaces, which are relatively new to the market, are the perfect solution.

Vent free fireplaces require no chimney or vent and are designed to be installed anywhere in your home. Most vent free fireplaces use a special vent free gas log, which accommodates up to 40,000 BTUs. However, you do need access to a gas line to use this technology and some states and municipalities do not allow these vent free fireplaces. At this time vent free gas log fireplaces are not allowed in Montana and Massachusetts, while regulations are currently being written for California. Regulations in Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota vary by area, while the across the remainder of the country there are no restrictions on their use.

Another vent free fireplace solution is an electric fireplace that when plugged in gives the illusion of a wood burning fire and even throws off a small amount of heat. Like the vent free gas log fires, an electric fireplace can be installed in any room, even in corners and placed in the wall. Although, you will need to consult an electrician if you plan to install your fireplace in the wall, in order to ensure that there is an outlet available for it to plug into.

The last type of vent free fireplace is perfect for those who live in apartments. These fireplaces are portable and can be moved from one location to another. And, they don’t require a gas line but rather burn alcohol gel, which is a safe and clean burning alternative to wood or gas. These cans of gel generally burn for up to three hours and are clean-burning for a vent free environment. Although these types of fireplaces will emit heat, they are not deigned to, nor are they strong enough, to serve as an alternate heating source.

All three types of vent free fireplaces come in a variety of styles ranging from traditional and country to modern and ornate featuring marble as well as other natural stones. Vent free fireplaces, in addition to providing users with incredible flexibility, are generally cost-effective. They range from a couple hundred dollars for an alcohol gel-burning version to a few thousand dollars for the vent free fireplace. In addition, all of these vent free fireplaces can be researched and purchased online or through your local fireplace showroom.
