Outdoor gas fireplaces have been compared to bringing your indoor fireplace outside with you. Some have also described outdoor gas fireplaces as instant campfires. However you like to see them one thing is for certain, there is nothing quite like sitting outside on a clear evening beside an outdoor gas fireplace. This is something that most people would gladly do regularly if it was only practical. Sadly most of us live in areas where it would not be allowed to have an open fire in our yard every night. Even if we can, the work and hassle of gathering firewood and starting a fire, not to mention cleaning up after it often deter us from doing it.
Outdoor gas fireplaces are the perfect answer to all of these problems. Clean and convenient, they allow you to be sitting beside a real fire in minutes with no smoke, or danger of complaints from the neighbors. They are generally turned on with the push of a button. No wood is required as the fuel of the fire is the gas. However, there are heat retaining lava rocks or something similar in most models so that the outdoor fireplace will release enough heat to keep you nice and warm well into the evening. The casing and trimming of outdoor fireplaces will usually be of durable and heat resistant material, and, too, they will be safe to use on patios and decks without any problem. Many also have wheels on them to make them even more portable. You should also look out for outdoor gas fireplaces that have removable walls or weather shields so that you can direct your heat in the direction you want and protect your fire and fireplace from the elements while it is in use. With outdoor gas fireplaces, you will generally have a choice between liquid propane and natural gas burning models. Natural gas models will usually give off slightly more heat but this depends on their designs and models. You should check before hand to see how much heat is produced and try to aim for a model that produces at least 50,000 BTU per hour if you expect to keep warm off of it. Also check to see how long one gas canister will last any model you may be looking at. The last thing you want with outdoor gas fireplaces is to be replacing the fuel every time you use them. This is expensive and will make you use your outdoor gas fireplace less than you would otherwise. There are a number of reliable and durable outdoor gas fireplaces out there with good warranties and good efficiency. You should expect to be paying around about the $500 mark for outdoor gas fireplaces, but the evenings of enjoyment it gives you will be well worth the investment. |
