Propane Fireplaces: Cleaner, More Efficient and More Convenient

According to the Hearth and Patio Association, some type of fireplace is not present in over 66% of American homes. Because it is simply not possible for everyone to have a real fire place, a growing proportion of these are alternative fireplaces such as gas or propane fireplaces or even virtual digital fireplaces.

Propane fireplaces are one of the products that has really taken off in recent years, with the trend towards having a fireplace in the home becoming larger than ever. They are enclosed chambers that fit into your existing fireplace or can be inserted into a custom built cavity in an existing wall. The chamber is then connected to a gas supply and air supply and a gas fire will burn in it. Most will contain decorative elements so that they look more like a traditional wood fireplace. Some of these look better than others, and there is a huge variety of designs and styles to choose from. Some propane fireplaces are designed to look as traditional as possible, while others are going for a more modern or sophisticated look. They will also cater to any budget or price range.

A big advantage of propane fireplaces is efficiency. While a traditional fire will allow a massive amount of heat to escape up the chimney, propane fireplaces are not connected to a chimney, and there is no where for the heat to go other then into your house. Using propane can save a lot on heating and fuel bills and is also good for the environment.

Propane is also useful for improving your indoor air quality. If you have young children, older people or anyone with a breathing problem or asthma, then you will want to make sure that no smoke or harmful particles from wood fires are present in your home. By installing propane fireplaces you will avoid all such particles and can drastically improve your indoor air quality.

Propane fireplaces are also extremely convenient and can be turned on and off with the simple push of a button. They also require no cleaning, and there is no chimney, which means no chimney cleaning and no costly chimney fires. You can also choose from many attractive features. You can install them into traditional fire cavities, into walls, as free standing units or in ultra modern displays. Propane fireplaces with push button activation are available, and there are some allow you to monitor the fire by remote control. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that! Thermostats and other controls can be added so that you can maintain a constant temperature in large or small rooms and can even hook a propane fireplace up to the rest of your heating system to provide heat for the entire house.
