Gel Fireplaces Great for Apartment Dwellers

Gel fireplaces are perfect for those who live in cold climates but don’t have a fireplace – specifically apartments and condos. During cold, rainy and snowy weather, when there is nothing to do, gel fireplaces allow owners to curl up in front of a warm fire and embrace the weather.

Gel fireplaces are actually fireplace units, which burn cans of alcohol gel. These small cans of gel are lit and placed in the fireplace itself. Unlike gas and wood burning fires that release particulate matter and excess heat in the air, the gel alcohol that gel fireplaces burn is clean burning as well as designed to be used in a vent-free environment, perfect for an apartment unit or condo.

Each can of alcohol gel burns for roughly three hours, which is similar to how long a firelog that is bought at the supermarket for a wood-burning fireplace would burn. And, unlike these logs, you can just blow out the flame of the can of gel in gel fireplaces if you decide to leave or go to bed. No more waiting for the fire to die down. Plus, a can of gel fuel costs roughly three dollars, similar to the cost of a firelog that you would buy at a supermarket. They can also be purchased in cases of up to 24, in order to have extra cans on hand, from stores such as Target.

Although gel fireplaces will release some heat, however, they should not be used as an alternate heating source. Those who own gel fireplaces should always use their heater to warm their home as opposed to relying on their gel fireplaces.

Gel fireplaces are also perfect for apartments and condos because they are freestanding units, similar to a bookcase. They are simply placed against any wall in a condo or apartment – either an interior or exterior one. And, they can easily be packed up and moved to someone’s next home, as opposed to having to be left behind.

Like all fireplaces, gel fireplaces come in a variety of styles to meet each buyer’s specific taste and style. Buyers can choose from traditional and country to modern and ornate featuring marble as well as other natural stones. There are also several wood tones and paint colors to select from. And, gel fireplaces won’t break the bank, as they range in price from a few hundred dollars to several hundred, based on the style and finish that is selected.

There are numerous companies that manufacture and / or sell gel fireplaces online. Simply use a search engine such as Google or Yahoo and enter gel fireplaces. Or interested buyers can contact their local fireplace showroom and inquire as to if they sell gel fireplaces.
