If you have a fireplace in your home but for some reason it seems lifeless and uninteresting then you might think about different options for fireplace décor. Whether your fireplace is gas, wood, or electric, you can change the entire appearance with fireplace décor. Best of all, you can come up with such exceptional design options that are easy to do and very affordable. In fact, you might have everything you need already on hand and just not know how to put it all together.
Just as you do with the rest of your home, your fireplace needs to be decorated. By choosing the right type of fireplace décor, you can make the fireplace the focal part of the room, the one thing that when people walk in, they say “WOW”. Part of the decision for fireplace décor will depend on the size of the fireplace, the size, and material of the mantle and hearth, and the location in the home for the fireplace. For instance, let us say you had a white brick fireplace with an oversized white mantle in the family room. With habanera pepper colored walls and white woodwork, you want something that will complement the room without adding too much more color. For this type of fireplace décor, you could choose a set of three black, wrought iron candleholders that would hold three candles of different sizes. Simply choose candles in shades of tan or camel, placing them on one side of the mantle. The on the other side of the mantle, add a glass vase with both neutral colors and red. Fireplace décor does not have to be elaborate or expensive, although it could be. Let us say you have an electric fireplace in the bedroom, which adds a touch of warmth but sets a romantic mood. With this, a long candleholder placed in the center of the mantle might be all you need. If the fireplace were not used in the summer, then your fireplace décor might include some smaller candles or a vase on one end of the mantle and fresh cut flowers on the other. Again, the goal with fireplace décor is to choose a look that will make the fireplace the focal point. It might be something as simple as hanging or placing a painting on the fireplace mantle and then some elegant wrought iron accessories on the hearth. Fireplace décor can also be added to the hearth. In this case, you might place a statue on the hearth, a basket, or large, over-sized candles. This is your opportunity to be creative, using the architecture of the fireplace as our canvas. Then, the fireplace décor should set the mood of the room. If you have a fireplace in the family room, then you might do something fun with color and geometric shapes whereas a fireplace in the formal living room would need to be elegant and sophisticated. The result of fireplace décor is turning a bland fireplace into something with a French provincial, Mediterranean, contemporary, or transitional style, making you proud.
